Panthers get victory on road over Alton

In need of a big win, the Mountain Grove Panthers’ baseball team ended a two-game skid by traveling to Alton and beating a then one loss Alton team, 4-2.
Mountain Grove led 4-0 through five innings before the Comets scored two runs, but they could not complete the comeback.
Thompson had the big hit with a three-run home run early in the contest. He would finish with the three RBIs and one run scored.
Kayne Meyer and Sawyer Kidd each scored one run.
On the mound, Taylor Garner tossed five innings and gave up two earned runs on four hits and five strikeouts and two walks.
Trace Harker had two scoreless innings and gave up two hits with one strikeout.
Before that big win, they ran into a Gainesville offense that compiled 17 hits in a 14-4 win over the Panthers.
Harker led the offense for Mountain Grove with one RBI and two runs scored; while Garner and Kidd both had one RBI.
On the mound, Meyer tossed two and a third innings and gave up five earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts and four walks. Wyatt Sparks tossed one inning and gave up three earned runs on four hits with two walks. Briar Parsons tossed one inning and gave up four earned runs on six hits with one strikeout and two walks. Brady Burnett tossed two-thirds of an inning and gave up two earned runs on two hits.
The Panthers’ record is now 4-6 this spring.
