Three Mountain Grove runners qualify for state

Mountain Grove cross country runners Abigail Sons, Hunter Bartlett and Keena Roth after qualifying for the Class 3 state championships with their performance in the Class 3, District 2 race in Plato.
Three Mountain Grove runners had advanced to the upcoming Class 3 State Championship race after earning a qualifying spot at the recent Class 3, District 2 race held in Plato.
The program was led by Lady Panthers’ runners Keena Roth and Abigail Sons, who both earned Top-25 finishes as they helped the team earn 220 total points for ninth place overall.
Roth finished 16th place with a time of 22:28.09 while Sons was 24th in the district race with her time of 22:48.59.
Makynli Blackwell (25:58.87), Megan Adams (30:36.75) and Santana Schwertfeger (30:36.96) also competed.
The Panthers were led by Hunter Bartlett, who qualified for state with his 24th place time of 18:11.53.
Trace Hadley was 48th (19:17.24) and Max Guilliams came in 50th place (19:19.56).
Also running for Mountain Grove were Mark Shaner (23:50.02) and Trigg DeVries (25:19.31).
As a team, the Panthers were 12th overall with 280 points.
All three runners will compete in the Class 3 State Championships held Nov. 9 at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia.
