The Mountain Grove Area Community Foundation presented grants to six area organizations totaling $10,500 at a brief award ceremony at the Mountain Grove High School Arena on Friday, Dec. 12. Recipients of this year’s grants included: Care to Learn, Ozarks Family YMCA, Mountain Moving Ministry, Shop with a Hero, Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks and Project Graduation.
“These grants are made possible by support from the community for our fundraising activities during the year,” said Dr. David Barbe, president of the Foundation. The Foundation’s bowling tournament this past spring and the golf tournament in September were both very well attended and helped raise the funds for these grants.
“Our total amount granted this year was $19,000. That is a great investment in the community, but wouldn’t it be even better if it could be more? If the community turns out and helps us grow our fundraising events even larger, we’ll be able to give more and larger grants,” according to Dusty Schober and Kim Norris, local Foundation board members.
Dr. Barbe stated, “The Foundation is one of our community’s greatest assets and one of the least well known. Now in its 21st year, the funds in the Foundation have given over $1 million in scholarships and grants to area students and local clubs and organizations.”
