Manes Mercantile holds Grand Opening

Area residents, State Rep. Melissa Schmdt and State Senate candidate Hannah Kelly were among those who attended the recent Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Manes Mercantile, located at 8978 Manes Road, just off Highway 95.
The special event also featured a car show.
“I want to thank everybody for coming today, but most of all I want to thank Jesus,” said Doug Moseley during the event. He is a co-owner of the business with his wife, Michele, along with Greg and Christy Allen. said.
“He’s the reason this is here…We wanted something good for the community.”
The Allens cut the ribbon during the ceremony and will be running the location that will sell some basic groceries like local milk, local eggs and much more.
It will also feature a dining menu as they will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Specials like a Fish Night are also in future plans.
Manes Mercantile currently has a staff of around eight to nine employees who will be taking care of customers when they visit the location during business hours of 6 a.m.-7 p.m.
Michele Moseley said she mostly looks forward to people in the area having a place they can come together to meet and visit.
“We want to bring this community a good place to gather, break bread and just visit with each other,” she said.
“Manes hasn’t had anything like that in years, and years, and years…I hope it brings more businesses and builds up the community.”
Locals have already been enjoying the business that first opened in April. For example, they ran out of burgers in the first four days of operation.
The kitchen hours are 6 a.m.-7 p.m., but the location is open until 8 p.m. during the summer. This includes the ability to purchase Hunts Brothers pizza until the later closing time.
