The Mountain Grove R-III School District held an Open House for its new weight room before Senior Night on Friday, Oct. 9. Superintendent Dr. Aaron Gerla made some brief remarks before doors were opened to the public to tour the near 5,000 sq. ft. facility.
He thanked Crawford Construction and architects who worked on the project. He also expressed his appreciation for the support of the School Board on the project and noted individual efforts from Denver Mitchell, on the project in its entirety, and Rusty Emery, with his work on the mural.
Construction on the facility began the same day as the Ozark Mountain Technical Center in the spring.
Athletes will begin using the facility on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
It features seven multi-versatile squat racks, dumbbells, boxes, equipment and a large open area that can be used for practice and walk-throughs.
There is also an approximate 8’ x 60’ mural featuring old photographs and some newspaper clippings celebrating past athletic success in the Mountain Grove School District.
“This is huge blessing for our district,” Dr. Gerla said. “It’s going to be an improvement for our students and coaches and teachers...We want to thank everybody who helped with work on this project...”
