VFW posts in Mountain Grove, Hartville merge

Effective from the Feb. 14 meeting, two local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) posts have now merged under a new name.
The Mountain Grove VFW Post No. 3770 and the Hartville VFW Post No. 3135 have come together as the new Wright County VFW Post No. 3770.
VFW Quartermaster Russell Olewinski said a mail out has been sent to members and the group is awaiting the official merger verification from national headquarters.
There were approximately 23 members of Hartville’s post and 113 on the Mountain Grove roster at the time of the merger.
With Alton’s VFW Post closing and the recently announced merger, VFW District 10 has now just 10 posts in its district.
The age of members and a lack of officers are among the reasons why many VFW posts are looking at merging where applicable.
Olewinski noted that discussion is still taking place for the auxiliary.
The first meeting of the Wright County VFW Post No. 3770 will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 14 next to the Mountain Grove Airport.
Donations can be made to the new Wright County VFW Post No. 3770 through the mail at PO Box 382, Mountain Grove, MO 65711. For more information, contact Quarterbaster Russell Olewinski at 417-204-8287 or Commander John Dodds at 417-259-2320.
