Wilder Days provides schedule update for event

The full schedule for the 50th Wilder Days in Mansfield was recently released for the event slated for Friday-Saturday, Sep. 26-27.
The celebration is highlighted by the presence of three “Little House on the Prairie” television stars.
Dean Butler (Almanzo Wilder), Charlotte Stewart (Miss Beadle) and Wendi Lou Lee (Baby Grace) will be the featured guests for the Sixth Annual Wilder Dinner to be held at the Mansfield High School Commons. Tickets costs $85 per person for just the dinner and showing of the Little House Homecoming Documentary. A cost of $125 will add a meet and greet at the historic farmhouse at Rocky Ridge Farm, which starts at 5 p.m. It costs just $15 to attend the showing and not the dinner and can be paid at the gym door. Friday’s activities start with the Wilder Home and Museum being open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
From noon-3 p.m., the Mansfield Area Historical Society Museum will be open with free admission.
Craft and food vendors will be at the downtown square from noon-7 p.m. The melodrama, “At Home in Mansfield,” will perform on the downtown square from 5-6:30 p.m.
“One More Dollar” will provide live entertainment on the square as sponsored by HomePride Bank.
On Saturday, the “Stanley Jones Singers” will perform at the Wilder Home at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The Wilder Home and Museum is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Mansfield Area Historical Society Museum is open with free admission from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. There will also be a Silent Auction from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Children’s games will be held at the Wilder Home during that same timeframe.
Craft and food vendors will be open on the square from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Scheduled events start with David Wilson playing on Pa’s fiddle at 9 a.m. at the Wilder Home. He will also play later at 2 p.m. Performing from 10-10:30 a.m. will be “The Square Sounds” at the square.
There will be an autograph session for the “Little House on the Prairie” cast from 10 a.m.-noon at the Wilder Museum. They will hold a second session there from 2-4 p.m.
At 10:30 a.m., the Little Laura and Farmer Boy contest closes and it starts at 11 a.m. on the downtown square. Just before it begins, the Mansfield School Band will perform from 10:30-11 a.m.
Kilties Drum and Bugle Corp from Central High School plays at the Wilder Home at 11:15 a.m.
Then at noon, the parade lines up in the area of the school and will head down Commercial St. towards the square starting at 1 p.m. Ethan Jackson will perform at the square from 2-3 p.m. followed by the “Potters Wheel Bluegrass Band” from 4-5 p.m. and Kyle Rummens from 5-6 p.m. Wilder Days concludes after the final appearance.
Evan Jones is the master of ceremonies at the square and Stanley Jones has the duties at the Wilder Home.
The special Wilder Days admission to the Wilder Museum on both days costs $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-17. For more information, call 417-924-3626.
