Lady Panthers cruise to pair of victories

The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers’ softball team outscored two opponents last week by a 30-9 margin for a pair of victories.
Mountain Grove took advantage of six Liberty (Mountain View) errors to pick up an 11-0 win over the Lady Eagles.
Sophee Peterson had three RBIs and three runs scored; Payton O’Connor added two RBIs and scored twice; both Lyla Golden and Aubrey Gerla had two RBIs; and both Gabby Miller and Aubrey Owens scored twice.
Hannah Dowden tossed a five inning shutout and gave up just one hit with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Mountain Grove also picked up a 19-9 win over Dora last week with the help of scoring seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Lyla Golden had one RBI and scored three times; Owens had one RBI and scored twice; Gerla added one RBI and one run score; L. Brown and Peterson both scored three times; while Landry Golden and Miller each scored two times.
Dora made 11 errors in the loss.
On the mound, Dowden tossed five and two-thirds innings and gave up no earned runs along with one hit and eight strikeouts.
O’Connor tossed a third of an inning and gave up one earned run on two hits with one strikeout and four walks.
