Lady Panthers’ golf team takes first at home match

The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers’ golf team hosted an event featuring seven total schools on Sep. 11 at Randel Hinkle Golf Course.
As a team, the Lady Panthers were first place overall after shooting a combined score of 377. They beat rival Ava by 52 strokes.
Peyton Tyrrell led the team with an 88 for third place as five golfers shot in the Top-11 and all six were in the Top-20.
Chloe Slagle tied for fifth with a 95, Gabby Miller was seventh with a 96, Payton O’Connor took 10th with her 98, Emma Crewse scored a 99 for 11th place and Cara Nelson’s 117 was good enough for 17th place.
“These girls are really improving and posted a great team score,” said Mountain Grove head coach Mike Mallow.
“To my knowledge, (this is) the best 18 hole team score in the short history of our program.”
Their next home match will be on Sep. 25 when they take on several teams at the nearby Wedegewood Country Club.
