Norwood Lady Pirates win Crane Invitational title

The Norwood Lady Pirates’ basketball team after winning the large first place trophy from this past week’s Sixth Annual Crane Lady Pirates’ Invitational.

The Norwood Lady Pirates’ defense held Cassville to six points or less in the final three quarters to win the Sixth Annual Crane Lady Pirates Invitational, 48-35.
Cassville jumped out to a 19-13 lead in the first quarter before the Lady Pirates closed the gap to trail by two at halftime.
Norwood’s big 16-6 fourth quarter run helped the Lady Pirates to pull away for a 13-point win.
Kalie Chadwell scored 13 points in the title game and went on to be named the MVP of the tournament.
Addy Gray scored a team-high 15 points; Gentry Davault had 10 points and was named to the All-Tournament team; Jayden Chambers was named to the All-Tournament team with five points; Jaycee Hall had three points; and Lydia Harden scored two points.
In the semifinals, Norwood used a 22-4 run in the third quarter to cruise past Pierce City, 51-26.
Davault scored 13; both Chadwell and Gray had 12; Chambers added eight; and Gray scored six points.
In the first round, the Lady Pirates defeated Galena, 54-19. (No stats were provided from the contest.)
Before the tournament, Norwood fell in overtime against large school Glendale, 48-44.
Chadwell had 13; Gray scored 12; Davault added 11; Chambers had six; and Hall scored tow points.
