Norwood Pirates pick up ninth win on young season
The Norwood Pirates’ basketball team has opened their season with a 9-0 record.
Before the recent Cabool Holiday Tournament, the Pirates competed against Valley Springs, Ark. in the Ninth Annual Border War Shootout held on the campus of North Arkansas College.
Norwood was paced early by the hot shooting of Cooper Vaughan as he made three 3-pointers in the first quarter to score 15 points.
The Pirates scored 24 points in the frame before slowing down in the second quarter with just 14 points.
In the third quarter, six different Pirates scored, led by Cooper Vaughan’s five points.
In the fourth quarter, Carder Kelly put the game away with three 3-pointers. Cooper Vaughan was named the Player of the Game as he finished with 24 points; Kelly scored 19 points with the help of five 3-pointers; Gunner Bradshaw had nine points; Peyton McDaris scored eight points; Andrew Bradshaw added four points; while Gary Williams scored two points.
