Lady Pirates get Summit win over Mansfield

The Norwood Lady Pirates held rival Mansfield to six points or less in all four quarters to open their Summit Conference schedule with a convincing 55-22 victory.
Kalie Chadwell hit a pair of 3-pointers in Norwood’s 22-point first quarter.
She had eight points in the frame while Gentry Davault paced her team in the second quarter with eight points to give her team a 24-point halftime edge.
Mansfield’s Addie Jones scored eight of her team’s 12 points in the first half.
Chadwell scored six points during a 15-5 run for the Lady Pirates in the third quarter as Norwood cruised to the 33-point win. Chadwell finished with 18; Davault had 14; Jayden Chambers 10; Jaycee Hall had five; Jamison Williams scored four; and Addy Gray had two.
Jones led the Lady Lions with 10 points while CheyAnn Price, Kayley Kingery and Chloe Napier each scored four points in the loss.
Norwood’s other win in the week had their defense holding Dora to the same total of 22 points in a 62-22 win.
The Lady Pirates’ defense held the Lady Falcons to four points or less in the second and third quarters. Norwood made 10, 3-pointers in the victory.
Chadwell made five of them and scored 19 points; Hall had a breakout game with a pair of 3-pointers for 18 points; Gray added three, 3-pointers and scored 14; Davault had six; and Chambers scored five.
