Milestones reached as Lady Pirates dominate three teams

A couple of scoring milestones were reached for the Norwood Lady Pirates last week after they defeated three teams by 23 points or more in the victories.
On Homecoming, senior Gentry Davault scored her 1,000th career point in the Lady Pirates dominating 70-30 win over Sparta.
Norwood opened the game on a 22-5 run as Kalie Chadwell had nine points and Jaycee Hall added five.
Davault took over in the second quarter with eight points to put her team up 27 at halftime.
Norwood’s offense made 16-of-26 shots from the field and 7-of-8 free throws in the first half.
Davault hit 1,000 career points with a score in a 23-point third quarter.
Hall scored seven points in that frame as her team made 9-of-11 shots from the field in the fame.
Through three quarters, Norwood’s offense made 25-of-37 shots and cruised late to the big win. Their defense forced Sparta to turn the ball over 26 times.
Davault, who would also be crowned Homecoming Queen, scored 18 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, four steals and three blocks.
Chadwell scored a team-high 23 points, four assists, three steals and two rebounds; Hall had 14 points three assists and two rebounds; Jayden Chambers had seven points, three assists, three steals, two rebounds and one block; Addy Gray had five points, two rebounds and two assists; and Lydia Harden had three points, two steals, one assist and one block.
One night earlier, Gray scored her 1,000th career point in the Lady Pirates’ 49-19 win over Conway.
The Lady Pirates’ defense held the Lady Bears’ offense to two points or less in two quarters and under 10 points in all four frames.
Chadwell scored 13 of Norwood’s 32 points in the first half. She added six more in the third as the Lady Pirates cruised to a 30-point win.
Chadwell had 19; Gray 10; Chambers six; both Hall and Davault had five points; while Jamison Williams and Harden each had two points.
Norwood started their week by hosting Ava and cruising to a 65-42 victory.

Norwood will be the No. 1 seed in the Class 2, District 10 Tournament played in Mansfield.
They will play Fordland or Bakersfield in the semifinals at 6 p.m. on Feb. 25.
The finals are set for 6 p.m. on Feb. 27 against eight Gainesville (No. 2), Hartville (No. 3), Dora (No. 6) or Mansfield (No. 7).
