Norwood baseball gets pair of Summit wins by 15-0 margin

Norwood’s baseball team outscored two Summit Conference teams, 15-0, as the Pirates won a pair of contests last week.
On Thursday, Norwood shutout rival Mansfield, 5-0, as Caden Black was dominant on the mound. He tossed seven scoreless innings and gave up six hits with three strikeouts.
Carder Kelly had one RBI and scored one run; Black had one RBI; Cooper Vaughan scored twice; and both Pierce Lawson had Pete McCune scored one run.
John Roberts had three hits for the Lions in the loss.
Aiden Garrison tossed five innings for Mansfield and gave up two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and four walks. Charlie Grubbs tossed two innings of shutout ball and gave up three hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
Norwood also picked up a 10-0 win over Sparta  after the Pirates scored six runs in the third inning to seal the win.
Gary Williams had three RBIs and scored one run; Cooper Vaughan had one RBI and scored twice; McCune had one RBI; while Noah Drake scored twice.
Cooper Vaughan tossed five scoreless innings and gave up two hits with eight strikeouts.
Norwood’s lone loss of the week came on the road as they fell to the Seymour Tigers, 10-5.
Williams hit a solo home run and finished with one RBI and scored one run while Black also had one RBI and one run scored. Carson Vaughan and Kelly each had one RBI while McCune had two RBIs. Holten Lopez tossed four innings and gave up five earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and six walks. Williams tossed an inning and gave up five earned runs on four hits with one strikeout and two walks. Black tossed a scoreless inning and gave up no hits.
