Norwood Lady Pirates’ track advances to state in four events

The Norwood Lady Pirates’ track and field team had athletes advance to the Class 1 State Championships in four different events.
They competed in the Class 1, Sectional 1 meet last Saturday in Mokane at South Callaway High School.
Norwood was led by the 4x800-meter relay team of Sadie Kelly, Jaycee Hall, Kalie Chadwell and Jayden Chambers, who finished second place overall with a time of 10:38.85.
The same group of runners then competed in the 4x400-meter relay race and advanced to state with a third place time of 4:23.57.
Individually, Chambers qualified for state in the 1,600 meters with her third place time of 5:31.47.
She then added a fourth place finish in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.06 seconds.
Chadwell just missed advancing in the long jump as she was fifth with a leap of 4.86 meters.
Kelly was eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:49.03.
Meanwhile, Norwood’s 4x200-meter relay team of Reagan Bennett, Hall, Kelly and Chadwell was eighth (2:04.94). With the several top finishes, the Lady Pirates were sixth overall in the team standings at sectionals with 27 points. State is May 22-23 in Jefferson City.
