Norwood Lady Pirates clinch share of Summit title

The Norwood Lady Pirates’ softball team recently clinched a share of the Summit Conference title.
The Norwood Lady Pirates clinched a share of the Summit Conference championship last week after winning their final two games to claim the crown. They first picked up a 14-0 win over Mansfield after Maddie Campbell’s gem on the mound.
She tossed five shutout innings and gave up one hit with 12 strikeouts.
Offensively, Katelynn Bennett had four RBIs and two runs scored; Campbell had three RBIs and scored four times; Autumn Gunter had four RBIs; Addie Smith had one RBI and scored twice; Jaycee Hall had one RBI and scored one run; while Clarisa Passott scored twice.
Mansfield pitched Addie Jones picked up the loss on the mound for the Lady Lions.
In the finale against Gainesville, the Lady Pirates’ offense had 16 hits in a 13-3 win.
Campbell and Bennett each had three RBIs and two runs scored; Smith had three RBIs; Lydia Harden added two RBIs; while Mayci Calhoun scored three times.
Campbell tossed six innings and gave up one earned run on four hits with 11 strikeouts.
Norwood ended their spring with an 11-2 overall record.
