Norwood Pirates split pair of Summit contests
The Norwood Pirates’ baseball team split a pair of contests last week as they hosted two Summit Conference teams.
Their win came on Oct. 3 when they crushed Seymour, 11-1.
Gary Williams had a big day with three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored while Brady Vaughan tallied three hits and three RBIs.
Noah Drake had two RBIs and two runs scored; both Laken Coatney and Pete McCune scored one run; while Carson Vaughan scored three times.
On the mound, Holten Lopez tossed five innings of shutout baseball and gave up just one hit with three strikeouts and four walks.
Against Fordland, the Pirates’ offense had just two hits in a 5-1 loss at home.
Lopez had the lone RBI while Williams scored the lone run.
On the mound, Coatney tossed five and a third innings for the Pirates and gave up four earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and four walks.
Lopez tossed one and two-thirds, allowing one earned run with two hits and two strikeouts and one walk.
