Norwood Pirates suffer loss to Seymour
One week after their plans to go after a Summit Conference title hit a snag with a slim two-point loss to rival Hartville, the Norwood Pirates’ basketball team drew another tough opponent last week when they hosted a tall Class 3 Seymour squad.
Unfortunately a slow start led Norwood to opening conference play with two losses as they fell to the Tigers, 55-48.
Seymour made a 17-6 run in the first quarter as Pierce Lawson accounted for all of Norwood’s scoring with a pair of 3-pointers.
The Pirates rallied before halftime as Carder Kelly scored six points and Laken Coatney hit a 3-pointer to close the gap to seven at halftime.
Andrew Bradshaw made a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points in the third, but his team was still down 10 entering the fourth.
Remington Hill scored all of his 10 points in the final frame, but it was not enough in the seven point loss.
Kelly scored a team-high 15 points; both Bradshaw and Hill had 10; Lawson scored six; Carson Vaughan had four; and Coatney had three points. Norwood’s record is now 12-5 on the season.
