Norwood softball cruises in big wins

The Norwood Lady Pirates’ softball team outscored two opponents last week, 30-0, to pick up a pair of big victories.
Against a 10-win Stoutland team, Norwood had 10 hits in a 15-0 win.
Jayden Chambers paced the offense in the lead-off spot with two RBIs and three runs scored; both Jaycee Hall and Katelynn Bennett had two RBIs and two runs scored; Natalee Lawson and Maddie Campbell each had one RBI and scored twice; Autumn Garner and Gentry Davault had one RBI and one run scored; Gracelynn Miller and Kinley Sinning each had one RBI; while Addie Smith and Mayci Calhoun scored one run.
Campbell tossed four innings of shutout ball and gave up four hits with seven strikeouts.
They added a 15-0 win over Laquey on Oct. 3. (Information from that game was not available by press time.)
On Oct. 1, a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the seventh inning led to Marion C. Early scoring the game-winning run in their final at-bat. They actually scored four runs to walk-off a winner just one half inning after the Lady Pirates scored three runs to take a 6-4 lead.
Sinning had three RBIs; Bennett, Gunter and Davault each had one RBI; while Chambers, Campbell, Miller and Hall each scored one run.
Campbell tossed six and a third innings, allowing seven earned runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and three walks.
