Norwood track qualifies for a few sectional events

Norwood relay runners Jayden Chambers, Jaycee Hall, Sadie Kelly and Kalie Chadwell qualified for sectionals in both the 4x400 and 4x800.

Several Norwood Lady Pirates’ track and field athletes took one big step towards an appearance in the Class 1 State Championships after competing in the Class 1, District 1 meet this past weekend in Cape Girardeau.
Three relay teams earned a top-four finishes to qualify for the Class 1, Sectional 1 meet slated for May 16 at South Callaway High School. The 4x800-meter relay team of Jayden Chambers, Jaycee Hall, Sadie Kelly and Kalie Chadwell placed third with a time of 11:10.28.
The same runners also placed third in the 4x400 with a time of 4:31.83.
Meanwhile, the 4x400-meter relay team of Reagan Bennett, Hall, Kelly and Chadwell was third place with a time of 4:31.83.
Individually, Chambers added a second place finish in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.67 seconds. She was also fourth in the 1,600 meters (6:01.28). Kelly was fourth in the 800 meters, qualifying for state with a time of 2:43.04.
Chadwell took fourth in the long jump after leaping 4.57 meters.
Caleb Barker was the lone Pirate and was 13th in the 800 (2:45.46) and 1,600 (6:01.65).
