Norwood track shines at Chadwick, West Plains

The Norwood Lady Pirates’ track and field program enjoyed a successful week in a pair of meets last week.
Chadwick
At the Chadwick Invitational, the Lady Pirates placed third as a team after several top performances.
Jayden Chambers had a big day as she won the 1,600 meters race with a time of 6:01.63 and she also won the 300-meter hurdles race with a time of 50.16 seconds.
Kalie Chadwell won the long jump event after leaping 4.62 meters. She was also second in the 200 (28.94) and second in the 400 (1:05.82).
Both girls then teamed with Sadie Kelly and Jaycee Hall to take second in the 4x400-meter relay race after a time of 4:37.13. Kelly was also sixth in the 1,600 (6:49.08) and eighth in the 800 (2:59.28). Hall was seventh in the 200 (30.70).
Caleb Barker competed for the Pirates, but didn’t earn a top eight finish. He was 16th in the 800 (2:42.27).
West Plains
Later in the week, Norwood took part in the Joe Bill Dixon Zizzer Relays.
Chambers paced the Lady Pirates by finishing second in the 300-meter hurdles (5:48.33) and sixth in the 1,600 (5:48.33).
Chadwell was fifth in the 400 (1:04.16) and eighth in the long jump (4.44 meters).
As for the 4x400-meter relay team, Hall, Kelly, Chambers and Chadwell were third with a time of 4:25.83.
Kelly just missed placing in the 800 as she was ninth (2:44.68).
