Leon Leonard McIntosh

Leon Leonard McIntosh

Leon Leonard McIntosh, son of the late Leonard and Mabel (Nulle) McIntosh, was born Oct. 7, 1946, in Springfield, and passed away March 5, 2026, at his residence in Norwood. He was 79 years of age. Leon attended and graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in Pleasant Hill. After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Navy from Feb. 1, 1966, to Jan. 13, 1970. After serving his country, he moved to Norwood.
On May 21, 1971, Leon was united in marriage to Nola Carder. One daughter, Carolyn, was born to this union. When Leon moved to Norwood, he went to work for Peck Oil Company, driving a gas truck. He later worked for Don Kelly Contractor for a few years before starting a dairy operation. After 25 years of milking, Leon started his own construction company, building houses. Although he retired from building houses after 25 years, he never really retired. He continued working his farm, putting up hay and running beef cattle. Leon loved big family gatherings and dinners for special occasions at his parents’ home. When his daughter was younger, he enjoyed taking her hunting. They also spent time together milking cows, hauling hay, and doing things together on the farm. After starting construction work, he only had time to occasionally stop and talk at Joe Locke’s shop to catch up with friends. He also liked to sit at the coffee shop and talk with friends.
On many occasions, he would go to his sister Betty’s home, where he enjoyed going fishing with her and his brother-in-law, Hubert, at their lake. He liked to go gigging with the guys, and they would have a big fish fry afterwards with extended family. Leon also enjoyed taking his grandkids fishing. For the last several years, Leon and Nola enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. He enjoyed reading hundreds of books about westerns during his retirement.
Besides his parents, Leon was preceded in death by an infant brother, Leonard John McIntosh Jr; one sister, Betty Hart; one brother-in-law, Bob Storms; and one sister-in-law, Linda McIntosh.
He is survived by his wife, Nola McIntosh, of the home in Norwood; his daughter, Carolyn “Willie” Broman and her husband, Roger, of Festus; two brothers, Jerry McIntosh, of Holden, and Mark McIntosh and his wife, Missy, of Norwood; four sisters, Della Storms, of Rogersville; Carolyn Jurewicz and her husband, Tony, of Mansfield; Linda Hancock and her husband, Wayne, of Norwood; and Rose Sparks and her husband, Clint, of Ennis, Texas; one brother-in-law, Hubert Hart, of Isabella; two grandchildren, Cooper Broman and his wife, Sarah, of Springfield, and Cassidy Broman, of St. Charles; many other relatives and friends; and his two dogs and best buddies, Jack and Betsy.
