Mike Hitchcock

Mike Hitchcock, 74, of Mountain Grove, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026. Mike was born on Dec. 26, 1951, in Drury to Fred and Eathel Hitchcock. He spent his childhood exploring the Ozarks and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1969. Mike could often be found interacting with the community during his daily walks in town. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, and his greatest pride was his role as a brother to his siblings and a protective son to his mother. Mike was known throughout the Mountain Grove community for his quick wit and warm smile. He never met a stranger and leaves behind a legacy of humor that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mike is survived by his brothers, Perry Hitchcock, of Winston, Ore., and Royal (Joe) Hitchcock, of Medford, Ore.; and his niece, Priscella Sloan Groat, of Mountain Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Eathel Hitchcock, along with seven brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Mike’s memory to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center. The family will host a private service at a later date and thanks the community for their thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
