Myrana Lee (Barnes) Wallen, daughter of the late Roy and Rachel (Ledford) Barnes, was born Oct. 2, 1939, in Steele, and departed this life on April 8, 2026, in Baton Rouge, La., at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 6 days. Myrana grew up on her family’s farm in Steele, where she also attended school. She attended the Church of Christ. She met the love of her life, Norval Ingersoll Wallen Jr., while he was serving in the United States Air Force. The two were soon united in marriage and blessed with two children. The family moved to Baton Rouge, La., to raise their children. Decades later, Myrana spent time in Boca Raton, Fla., where she worked for a custom closet manufacturer. She later lived in Hartselle, Ala., near her parents and sister, where she shared her talents as a beautician. She ultimately returned to Baton Rouge. A creative soul at heart, Myrana found great joy in her spare time through crafting and decorating.
Myrana is preceded in death by her husband, Norval Ingersoll Wallen Jr.; her parents, Roy and Rachel Barnes; her daughter, Charessia Matlock; and her sister, Rita Kifer. She is survived by her son, Norval Ingersoll Wallen, III, and his wife, Pami Diane, of Dardenne Prairie; grandchildren, Justin Tyler Horn, Jennifer Diane Wallen and Stephan Grant Wallen; one great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends. Myrana was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 10-10:45 a.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home in Mansfield. A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Mansfield City Cemetery. Arraignments are under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home Mansfield.
