Mountain Grove’s Zoey Criner receives DCFTHBA scholarship

The Douglas County Fox Trotting Horse Breeders’ Association (DCFTHBA) awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Zoey Criner, of Mountain Grove High School, a $500 scholarship to Michelle Walker, of Gainesville High School, and a $500 scholarship to Alyson Rainey, of Seymour High School, in a ceremony held at the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breeders Association in Ava on Tuesday, May 13.
This was the third year of the DCFTHBA Future Farmers of America (FFA) Scholarship Award, which is now in memory of Frank Williams, who was pivotal in getting this award established. The scholarships were open to Gainesville, Ava, Mountain Grove, Seymour and Bradleyville seniors that participated in FFA for a minimum of two years and met additional academic criteria, essay and letters of recommendation.
Zoey served in the FFA for four years and held officer positions for three of those years and has received multiple awards such as Academic Honors, FFA Dairy Judging District/State first place (qualifying for Nationals), and Honor Choir Solo District medalist.
She held Student Council officer positions for four years, member and/or officer of the Key Club, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Spirit Club, National Teenage Republican Students and participated in softball, golf and track and field.
In addition to school activities, Zoey volunteers at the Whetstone Veterinary Clinic.
Michelle served in the FFA for four years and is currently the Vice President for her chapter.
Alyson served in the FFA for four years and has received multiple scholarship and leadership awards.
