Santa kicks off annual shoe distribution with countdown

The spirit of community support was on full display this past week as the Second Annual Mansfield Shoe Distribution took place at Mansfield Schools, ensuring that every elementary student in the district, from Pre-K through fifth grade, received a brand-new pair of shoes and a new pair of socks.
In total, 348 pairs of shoes were purchased from the Ava Walmart and distributed.
Santa Claus himself began the celebration, leading the students in a festive countdown before they opened their new boxes of shoes—an unforgettable moment filled with smiles and holiday cheer.
The project began in 2024 after Nicholas W. Inman organized a committee for a community-wide shoe distribution to support local students. The original charter committee consisted of Inman, Dr. Clint Hall, Brenda Miller, and Connie Roberts, whose early leadership helped lay the foundation for the program’s success.
Funding for the project has come from a wide network of support, including area alumni, community members, businesses, local churches and grants. Through their generosity, the committee met its fundraising goal for the second consecutive year.
Volunteers from the school helped unpack, sort, and prepare the shoes for distribution, ensuring each child received the correct size. The committee expressed deep gratitude to the many individuals who donated funds, time, and effort to make the event possible.
The mission of the Mansfield Shoe Distribution remains simple, but profound: to ensure that no elementary child goes without proper footwear during the winter months. What began as an idea has quickly become a cherished community tradition, one that continues to warm hearts, strengthen community ties, and meet a vital need for Mansfield students.
