Audra Ellen (Crewse) Shelley

Audra Ellen (Crewse) Shelley, daughter of the late Edward and Hattie (Greenlee) Crewse, was born on Nov. 26, 1922, at Astoria, and passed from this life at Texas County Memorial Hospital, Houston, on April 26, 2023. Audra grew up in Texas County and was united in marriage to Abraham Lincoln Shelley on Nov. 9, 1938, at Houston. Two children were born to this union, and they were married for seventy-one years. Audra worked for the H.D. Lee Company in Houston, for many years, and later retired from there. She and Abe also worked on the farm all their lives. Audra was saved at a young age and attended the Fowler Church for over 50 years.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, a brother-in-law and by two sisters-in-law. She is survived by her son, E. Jay Shelley, of Cabool; her daughter, Donna Kullmer, of O’Fallon; one grandson, Matt Kullmer, of O’Fallon; three great-grandsons, all of O’Fallon, Missouri; four brothers, Jimmy Crewse, of Graff, Ancil Crewse and wife, Marilyn, Floyd Crewse and wife, Lorene, Fines Crewse and wife, Blanche, all of Huggins; one sister, Imogene Hamilton, of Cabool; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and by a special friend, Bruce.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation for Audra Shelley was held Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 10-11 a.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove. Funeral services were Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home, with Pastor David Leighty officiating. Song selections were “One Day At A Time,” “The Lighthouse” and “Amazing Grace.” Kevin Hamilton, Ancil Crewse, Floyd Crewse, Fines Crewse, David Crewse and Lloyd Crewse served as pallbearers. Burial was in Murr Cemetery, Texas County, under direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.  Memorial contributions may be made to Murr Cemetery.
