Two close Mansfield friends who have played basketball together since they were little and at high school have both signed letters of intent to continue as teammates at the collegiate level.

Chase Cartwright and London Dennis both signed official letters of intent last week at a ceremony to continue their careers with Baptist Bible College in Springfield.

“It’s kind of unbelievable,” said Dennis about getting to continue his career with Chase at BBC.

“We have always played together since we were in elementary school,” Chase said. “It is a great opportunity getting to play with him at the next level.”

Mansfield head boys basketball coach Cody Shelton said the signings mean a lot to the Lions’ program.

“It’s their leadership,” he noted. “It shows the other guys they too can have a chance to play at the next level. These guys are a good example of what we want out there setting a good example for the future...I’m really excited for them.”

During the signing, the two players were joined by their parents, Dustin and Shana Cartwright as well as Hayden and Tara Dennis.

Other coaches, family members and Mansfield players joined them for the special ceremony at the Lions’ Den.
