Connie Norwood

Connie Norwood, daughter of the late Hudon and Betty June (Chestnut) Cochran, was born Sep. 30, 1941, in Thomaston, Ga., and passed away Feb. 18, 2021, at her home in Norwood. She was 79 years, 4 months and 19 days of age. When Connie was nine years old, her family moved to Long Beach, Calif. She graduated from Huntington Beach High School and married Jerry Norwood on Feb. 28, 1959, in Long Beach, Calif. Three children were born to this union. Connie was a homemaker for her family. She also worked as a bookkeeper and was a country music writer for BMI. In her spare time, she enjoyed working with flowers and in her gardens. She would can jelly and loved to play Bingo. While living in California, Connie enjoyed target shooting, shooting clay pigeons and pheasant hunting. Connie and Jerry retired to Missouri and bought a farm in 1994. Connie greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and loved any time she got to spend with them. 

Besides her parents, Connie was preceded in death by one son, Matthew Wayne Norwood; one half brother, Michael Cochran; and one step-brother, Wayne Smith. She is survived by her husband of their home, Jerry Norwood; one son, Jerry A. Norwood; and one daughter, Stacey Shaughnessy and her husband, Patrick, all of Norwood; seven grandchildren, Christa Senf, Ryan Shaughnessy, Luke Norwood, Aubrey Sinatra, Austin Norwood, Alyssa Norwood and Ariana Norwood; three great-grandchildren, Eric Senf, Kailana Norwood and AvaLee Norwood; and many other friends and relatives who will dearly miss her. Visitation for Connie Norwood will be held Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, at 10 a.m., also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ben Walker officiating. Song selections will be . Austin Norwood, Alyssa Norwood, Ariana Norwood, Aubrey Shaughnessy, Ryan Shaughnessy and Ellora Campbell will serve as pallbearers.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.
