David Lee Homer was born March 31, 1957, in Chicago, Ill., and departed this life April 14, 2023, in Springfield  He was 66 years and 14 days of age. David married Kimberly Flageolle on Feb. 10, 1979, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mountain Grove, and four children were born to this union: Davy, Rachel, Dustin and Shelby.  David lived most of his adult life in Mountain Grove. He started his business, David Homer Concrete Construction, in 1980, and worked it, breathed it, and lived it until he retired in 2020.  He took pride in every job that he did and he wanted every customer to be completely satisfied, no matter how long it took. He cared about people and believed that everyone deserved a second chance. He took countless people under his wing over the years and taught them his trade. Even though he didn’t always show his patience, he cared that they learned to do every job to the best of their ability just like he did. David was born again in December of 2016, and he and Kim were baptized together, in August of 2018, by their son, Davy. David loved the lake. Even though he was scared to death of the water and didn’t know how to swim for a while, he made the decision that family time was more important than work. Taking his family to the lake soon became a weekend tradition. David’s wife, children and grandchildren were his entire world. He had a heart of gold, and he would do anything for anyone. After retirement, David moved to Theodosia, full-time, where he was involved in every aspect of his church, The Bridge. He made a tremendous impact in the children’s ministry, where he became known by everyone as Papa. David was also heavily involved in the Theodosia community, where he was recently appointed mayor. Even though he didn’t get the time to do everything he wanted there, he had already made a lasting impact.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Agnes Pustelnik; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Doris Flageolle; two brothers-in-law, Bob Dibben and Rick Forrest; one sister-in-law, June Forrest; one niece, Jennifer Alexander; two nephews, Little Ricky Forrest and Michael Flageolle; one great-nephew, Dakota Morgan; and one great-niece, Macy Loveless.
