Dorothy Sue Coday, daughter of the late Warren G. and Reva June (Turner) Todd, was born Nov. 12, 1944, in Springfield. She departed this life on April 26, 2023, in the Autumn Oaks Care Center in Mountain Grove.  She was 78 years, 5 months and 14 days of age. Dorothy was raised in Wright County, Missouri, near Odin, on her family’s 225-acre dairy farm. She attended Mountain Dale, a one room schoolhouse, through the 8th grade. She then attended Hartville High School, graduating with the Class of 1962. On March 28, 1961, she was united in marriage to Joseph M. “Mike” Coday and to this union three sons and one daughter were born: Michael Gene, Joseph Andrew, Warren Russell and Michelle Diane.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Warren Russell Coday; and her sister, Rebecca Ann Todd. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Mike, of the home; her children, Michael Gene Coday and wife, Carla, of McKinney, Texas; Joseph Andrew Coday, of Hartville; and Michelle Diane Coday, of Sherman, Texas; daughter-in-law, Kristi Coday, of Greenville, Texas; seven grandchildren, Ariel Lynn Coday, Marissa Jean Roble and husband, Colin, Natalie Faye Montehermoso and husband, Monte, Hunter Warren Coday and wife, Allie, Rachel Dawn Coday, Peyton Della Jones, and Kaitlyn Brielle Jones; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Aurora Montehermoso; brother-in-law, David Coday and wife, Barbara; cousins; a niece and a nephew; other relatives; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Dorothy made her profession of faith in Jesus Christ early in life and was an active member of the local church where she lived.  She was a member and attended the Hartville Freewill Baptist Church and really enjoyed attending Bible study. She delighted in telling all her grandchildren Bible stories and praying with them. Visitation for Dorothy Coday was held on Monday, May 1, 2023, 6-7:30 p.m. at Craig- Hurtt Funeral Home, Hartville. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 10 a.m. also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Melvin Moon officiating. Elvin Fisher, Garnal Cogdill, Gayford Lowrawce, Gale Kinser, Roger Austin and Denis Turner served as Pallbearers. Gary Turner, Larry Turner, and L.D.Todd served as honorary pallbearers.
