Eagles’ baseball cruises past rival Norwood

Hartville’s baseball team ended a four game winning streak after picking up a pair of victories in outscoring the two teams by a 21-1 margin.

A big win came last Thursday when they traveled to Norwood and left their rival’s diamond with a 11-1 win.

Hartville scored at least one run in all five innings, sparked by a four-run second inning.

The Eagles’ offense was led by a 10-hit attack.

Dakota Stigall led an Eagles’ line-up that had seven different players pick up RBIs. He had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Gus Sinning had two RBIs and one run scored; Grant Culver had one RBI and scored twice; Kolton Cogdill scored twice; Brock Jones had three hits, one RBI and one run scored; Ethan McDaris and Payton Cogdill had one RBI and scored one run; Truett Coryell had one RBI; while Hunter Delcour scored one run.

On the mound, Dakota Stigall tossed five shutout innings and allowed three hits with 10 strikeouts.

Norwood’s Holten Lopez had the Pirates’ lone RBI while Dillion Bennett scored the lone run.

Cooper Vaughan tossed five innings and allowed five earned runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts and seven walks.

Before that win, the Eagles hosted Crane and defeated a second Pirates’ team of the week, 10-0, behind an 11-hit attack.

Kolton Cogdill had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored; Culver had two RBIs and one run scored; Dakota Stigall had one RBI and scored twice; Payton Cogdill had three hits and one RBI; Jones had one RBI; McDaris scored twice; while Mason Cogdill, Asher Lanham and Sinning scored one run.

Dakota Stigall tossed five shutout innings and allowed just four hits with nine strikeouts.
