Zena Mae (Graves) King

Zena Mae (Graves) King, the only child of Dewey A. and Mae (Miller) Graves, was born Dec. 10, 1926, in Macomb. She went to her heavenly home on Jan. 29, 2022, at Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove. She was 95 years, 1 month and 19 days of age. Zena worked in the healthcare field for many years, in which 14 of those years were at Mansfield Hospital.

She married Bert King in May of 1988. Zena loved to cook and was known for her apple pies. She also enjoyed raising beautiful flowers. She enjoyed visiting with people and telling stories from days gone by. At the time of her passing, she was still living in the house she was born in. Zena loved going to church and was a member of Norwood Assembly of God Church in Norwood.

When she was no longer able to attend services, she looked forward to the visits from the ladies of Norwood Assembly for Bible study and singing. Zena was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Mae Graves, and her husband, Bert King.

She leaves behind a niece, Linda Hoover and her husband, Jake, of Mansfield; a cousin, Sue Durden, and her husband, Phillip, of Norwood; and many friends, neighbors and former co-workers to mourn her passing. Zena will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Funeral services for Zena King were held Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mansfield, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Tom Fortner officiating.

Danny Mahurin, Frank Woods, Jim Kelly, Jeff Forrest, Glen Boykin and Tom Fortner served as pallbearers. Song selection was “Beulah Land” sung by Barbara Saladin, Ann Raney, Reta Walker, Cissy Kelly, Donna Bruffett and Danna Gaskins. Burial was in Macomb Cemetery, Macomb, under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mansfield, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Gideons in care of the funeral home.
