Hartville wins Purdy Tournament title

The Hartville Eagles’ baseball team avenged a loss to the host of the Purdy Tournament a year ago by picking up a 2-1 victory last week to become the 2026 Purdy Tournament champions.
In the top of the seventh inning, T.J. Kline scored on a passed ball for the eventual game-winning run. This was big as the team had just one hit in the entire game, but found a way to score a pair of runs.
Gus Sinning added an RBI as a ground out scored Truett Coryell in the third inning.
Coryell tossed a complete-game gem on the mound as he went seven innings and gave up no earned runs on two hits with six strikeouts and four walks.
Hartville won their first two games by a combined 30-0 score.
In the 9-0 win over Southwest, Cole Sinning paced the offense with three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored. Brock Jones had two RBIs and scored twice; Brodyn Hulsey had two RBIs; while Coryell scored twice.
Gus Sinning tossed six shutout innings and gave up two hits with 15 strikeouts and two walks.
A 14-run third inning paced Hartville then to a 21-0 victory over Crane.
