Deputies contacted a 19-year-old male victim, who reported being in an argument with a family member, Wayne Beck.
The victim reportedly stated that during the argument, Beck struck him with a pistol, and then fired a shot from the weapon that entered through his upper arm into his torso.
A witness provided a similar account of the incident as well. The victim was later transferred to another medical facility with serious injuries.
After speaking with the victim, deputies went to a residence on Gravel Point Road in the Dunn area where the incident occurred.
Deputies contacted Beck and questioned him about the incident. Beck admitted to striking the victim with the gun and firing a shot toward the victim.
Beck stated he did not intend to hit the victim, only to scare him. Beck was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail.
Texas County Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens charged Wayne J. Beck, 59, of Mountain Grove, with domestic assault in the first degree, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
Beck is being held in the Texas County Jail pending a $25,000 cash bond.
The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
