Lady Panthers finish second in Salem Tournament

The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers earned a second place finish in this past weekend’s Salem Tournament after winning two of their three contests.
Landry Golden, Hannah Dowden and Aubrey Gerla earned All-Tournament honors for the Lady Panthers.
One of their wins came against a now 17-win Plato team as they beat the Lady Eagles for the second time this season. This time they won, 12-10, as Mountain Grove scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning.
Landry Golden hit a two-run home run and a solo home run to finish with three RBIs and three runs scored.
Gerla added two RBIs; Sophee Peterson had one RBI and two runs scored; while Stella Benson, Aubrey Owens and Makenzi Schober each scored two runs.
Payton O’Connor tossed four and two-thirds innings and gave up five earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and four walks. Dowden tossed three and a third innings and gave up two earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
In the match-up with Potosi, the Lady Panthers scored three runs in their final at-bat to help seal a 12-4 win over the Lady Trojans.
Gerla helped her squad with a two-run home run as she had two RBIs and one run scored.
Lyla Golden had a big game with two RBIs and three runs scored; while O’Connor scored twice.
Dowden tossed seven innings and tossed three earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts.
In the championship game against Ava, the Lady Bears scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to knock off Mountain Grove.
Lyla Golden hit a three-run home run and tallied three RBIs and scored one run. O’Connor had one RBIs and scored one run; Benson scored twice; and Landry Golden and Owens each had one RBI and one run scored. Gabby Miller had one RBI.
Dowden tossed six innings and gave up two earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
Earlier in the week, the Lady Panthers traveled to Salem and picked up a 9-4 win.
Peterson had two RBIs; Landry Golden and Miller each had one RBI and scored three times; and Lyla Golden had one RBI.
Dowden tossed four and a third innings and gave up two earned runs on one hit with five strikeouts and one walk.
Willow Springs scored one run in their final at-bat on Monday to hand the Lady Panthers a tough 9-8 loss on senior night for Landry Golden.
Landry Golden hit a pair of solo home runs and finished with three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored; Chloe Slagle had three RBIs and scored one run; O’Connor had one RBI; while Schober scored twice.
Dowden tossed seven innings and gave up two earned runs on six hits with one strikeout in the tough loss for the Lady Panthers.
