Lady Panthers get two SCA victories

The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers’ basketball team picked up a pair of South Central Association (SCA) Conference victories last week.
Their first came on Senior Night as they rallied from a sluggish start to pull away from a now 18-win Willow Springs team, 65-51.
The Lady Bears led early with the help of a pair of first quarter 3-pointers.
Stella Benson made two early 3-pointers herself. She then led a defensive effort before halftime to rally her squad to a 28-22 edge at the break.
Rowen Kelly hit two, 3-pointers and scored eight points in a 22-point third quarter. Raylee Stenzel scored nine points in the final frame to help the Lady Panthers pull away for the win.
Stenzel scored a team-high 15 points; Kelly and Benson both tallied 14 points; Sadie Schober had eight points; Kaylee Virtue made two, 3-pointers for six points; and Landry Golden scored six points.
The Lady Panthers ended their week by simply destroying Salem, 71-24.
Mountain Grove was up 26-6 at the end of the first quarter as Stenzel scored 14 points. She added another 10 in the next eight minutes later for 24 first-half points.
The Lady Panthers outscored Salem, 31-6, in the second half. Stenzel had a team--high 32 points; Benson added 12; Schober had 10; Kelly scored seven; Golden had four points; and Lyla Golden, Aubrey Owens and Virtue each added two points.
