Panthers’ tennis shines in area events

Mountain Grove’s tennis team earned a third place finish out of eight teams in the recent West Plains Tournament.
Cooper Mitchell led the Panthers by winning the No. 2 singles tournament with his first place finish.
Erecka Penner placed fifth in No. 1 singles.
As for doubles, the No. 1 doubles team of Wyatt Fry and Trygg DeVries finished in fourth place.
Hunter Pope and Emma Schrock took fifth place in No. 2 doubles.
In the South Central Association (SCA) Conference Tournament, Penner was third place in singles.
Meanwhile, Mitchell and Fry took third place in doubles.
In a regular match against West Plains before the tournament, the Panthers beat the Zizzers 8-1.
Penner was her No. 1 singles match, 8-6.
Mitchell (8-3), Fry (8-1), Pope (8-0) and Schrock (8-2) each won their singles matches. DeVries fell in his No. 4 singles match, 8-5.
As for doubles, Penner and DeVries won 8-0.
Mitchell and Fry won, 8-0, and Pope and Schrock won, 8-1.
As for a match with Liberty (Mountain View), the Panthers won all nine matches.
Penner, Mitchell and Schrock each won their singles matches, 8-0, while Fry, DeVries and Pope won 8-1.
Penner and DeVries and Mitchell and Fry won their doubles matches, 8-0.
Pope and Schrock won the No. 3 doubles match, 8-1.
