The Kentucky Headhunters heading to Grove
With less than a month away, the entertainment line-up is officially set for the Mountain Grove Heritage Festival’s annual event centered this year around the nation’s 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence
Headlining this year is The Kentucky Headhunters, who are set to take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7
A couple of hit songs for a group known as southern rock royalty include “Dumas Walker” and “Oh, Lonesome Me.”
The group is credited for creating a unique blend of honky-tonk blues and southern rock that appeals to listeners of all kinds.
Though the concert is free, there are VIP tables available up close to the stage. A single ticket costs $75, four can be purchased for $275 and a table of eight costs $500. Tickets can be purchased at Spiceberry Flowers on the square in Mountain Grove.
Also on Friday night, the Isaac Kenneth Band, from Seymour, will open from 5-6:30 p.m. The event officially opens to the public on day one at 4 p.m.
On Saturday, Aug. 8, the Whetstone Band returns to the festival and will perform from 9-10:30 a.m.
Then from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., the First Day Band will entertain the crowd.
Members Only, who is from the Springfield-Branson area, will end the festival by performing from 2-5 p.m. They are known for reproducing many pop and hair-metal hits of the 1980s. Those attending the two days of concerts are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, umbrellas and sunscreen.
Outside of entertainment, there will be a gymnastics patriotic performance at 11 a.m. and the Sew Its Wednesday Quilt Show in the old Mountain Grove High School gym.
Veterans will also be celebrated all day with free breakfast and lunch at the bandstand.
The Mountain Grove Heritage Festival also featured more than 200 vendors, period reenactors in encampments, bounce houses, a dunk tank and pony rides.
Also attending will be the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution as well as Mike Davis, the Discovery Channel Master of Arms. A flag raising ceremony will be held on the square at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8.
