Wright County Retired School Personnel met on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
After the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and prayer, Technology Chairman Jimmie Marler reminded us to be cautious about opening unexpected texts or emails.
It would be good practice to call the business and check on validity of the text or email first.
Nancy Smith, Legislative Chairman, urged us, no matter our political opinions, to vote in the November election.
We were informed that our state MRTA region, Region 10, has achieved Diamond status for excellence for the third consecutive year.
We are proud of southwest Missouri retired teachers!
Our speaker was Karen Miller, president of MRTA-F, the philanthropic arm of Missouri Retired Teachers Association. MRTA-F gives grants of $500 to current classroom teachers and school support staff in order to help them serve our students in the best way.
Since 2003, MRTA-F has distributed $658,000 in grants and scholarships.
We encourage all current school employees to take advantage of these grants.
