Mansfield Family Dollar/Dollar Tree to close

Posted

Bare shelves, clearance signs and time waiting in line to make a purchase are things currently expected at the local Family Dollar/Dollar Tree located at 720 MO-5 in Mansfield.

This is the new normal at this location, at least for the near future. The store is closing permanently, and as the sign on the door says, everything must go. It was a busy week at the store with every product being 50% off, with some exclusions, like gift cards and tobacco products. Dollar Tree is the parent company of Family Dollar. Mansfield’s location is just one of 1,000 Family Dollar and/or Dollar Tree stores that are closing their doors in the foreseeable future. It is reported that 600 Family Dollar stores will close this year and 370 Family Dollar stores will close in the coming years. Lastly, 30 Dollar Tree stores will close as well. As far as the local store, a final day of operation has not been released. The Family Dollar location in Seymour and the Dollar Tree location in Mountain Grove will remain open.

The Family Dollar/Dollar Tree in Willow Springs will also be closing its doors.

The Dollar Tree company noted a big reason for a decline in gross margin profits was due to businesses shrinking the size of products and product cost inflation.
